Something terrible has happened: I have decided that I don't actually hate Topre switches after all.
Other than the fact that I am a heavy RShift user and this is extremely inconvenient on JIS, the main thing that I'm not that keen on with this particular board is that it has a rock solid metal plate, which makes bottoming out on key presses feel rather harsh even with the damped switches (which are otherwise pretty lovely actually). Otherwise, I think I'm a fan of these 45 g silenced Topre switches in general, but I'd probably prefer them on a plastic plate. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a single keyboard in PFU's product line that ticks all my boxes. I'm seriously considering trying to make a custom Topre board or something Topre-adjacent. Want to do a kind of zany layout which means I need flexibility with keycaps, meaning actual Topre keycaps are immediately a terrible idea, so I probably need something MX mount... which likely means Niz. Niz boards seem to use sheets instead of separate domes, which also means I'm probably looking at BKE domes, which I haven't yet tried.
I do like the way these silenced Topre switches sound though:
